Plunderer is an action-fantasy anime series based on the manga of the same name by Suu Minazuki. The story is set in an apocalyptic world where every human has a “count,” which represents their life. They earn points for every action they take, and if they don’t collect new points, their count starts decreasing until it reaches zero, leading to a fate in the abyss.
The main protagonist, Hina, sets out on a journey to find the Legendary Red Baron after her mother’s count drops to zero. During her journey, she meets Litch, a swordsman with a low count, and together they embark on the quest to find the Red Baron.
As for the possibility of a second season, there hasn’t been any official announcement from the studio, GEEKTOYS. The first season of Plunderer covered 10 volumes and 38 chapters of the available 21 volumes and 82 chapters in the manga. With about 44 chapters left to adapt, there is enough source material for a second season. However, considering the recent completion of the manga, it may take some time before any news of a renewal is announced, and if it happens, it is unlikely to come before 2023 due to production time.
In terms of popularity, the anime has gained a significant following outside of Japan, but its disc sales fell below expectations in Japan. It has garnered a decent ranking on Myanimelist popularity, but its popularity on Twitter is relatively low compared to other series with upcoming seasons.
The main characters in Plunderer include Licht Bach, the Flash Baron, who conceals his identity due to his low count, Hina, the main heroine on a quest to find the Red Baron, Mei Lyne, a sergeant who protects Hoemmh, Murdoch Jail, a lieutenant in the Althea royal guard, and Poporo Pele, also known as Gespenst, Mei Lyne’s henchman and friend.
